Anxiety is the most common reason people seek therapy - and one of the most treatable. At Haven, anxiety treatment is built on CBT principles (identifying and restructuring thought patterns that fuel anxiety), but extended to include mindfulness-based techniques, somatic awareness, and where appropriate, exposure work.
Whether you're dealing with generalized anxiety that makes concentration difficult, social anxiety that limits your relationships, health anxiety, or panic disorder, your therapist will provide psychoeducation about what anxiety is doing in your nervous system and then teach you specific, evidence-based tools to interrupt it.
Book a Free 15-Min Call →Depression is not a character flaw or weakness. It is a neurobiological condition with highly effective treatments. Our approach combines behavioral activation (the evidence-based technique of scheduling activities that bring even small amounts of pleasure or accomplishment), cognitive restructuring, and - where depression is rooted in relational patterns or past experiences - deeper exploratory work.
We coordinate with prescribing physicians when medication is part of the treatment picture. Our role is the therapy; we leave medication management to the appropriate providers and communicate regularly with them.
Book a Free 15-Min Call →Trauma therapy at Haven centers on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Trauma-Focused CBT, and somatic processing. EMDR is endorsed by the World Health Organization as a first-line treatment for PTSD and has a robust evidence base across both single-incident and complex trauma.
Dr. Torres is an EMDRIA-approved EMDR therapist. Complex developmental trauma - the kind that accumulates from childhood neglect, abuse, or chronic relational injury - is a specialty at Haven and requires a slower, more relational approach than single-incident PTSD. Both are within our scope.
Book a Free 15-Min Call →We offer both individual therapy for relationship concerns (attachment patterns, communication styles, recovering from betrayal) and couples therapy for partners working on their relationship together. Our couples approach is informed by the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
We also offer premarital counseling as a structured, research-validated program (Gottman's Prepare-Enrich) that equips couples with communication tools, conflict resolution skills, and a clearer picture of their shared goals before they marry.
Book a Free 15-Min Call →Dr. Brown specializes in adolescents and young adults. Teen therapy at Haven addresses anxiety, academic pressure, identity development, social difficulties, self-esteem, family conflict, and emerging depression. We work collaboratively with parents on the level of involvement appropriate to the teenager's age and presenting concerns.
Our teen sessions run 50 minutes. Parents receive periodic updates on goals and progress without sharing the confidential content of sessions - preserving the therapeutic alliance that makes teen therapy effective.
Book a Free 15-Min Call →Couples therapy at Haven is not a place to argue at each other with a referee. It's structured, skills-based work with a clear arc. Sessions typically start with an extended couple's intake (90 minutes), followed by individual sessions with each partner, and then ongoing conjoint sessions.
We take couples at all stages - early in a relationship building a strong foundation, mid-relationship navigating a specific challenge, and couples considering separation who want to be sure they've done the work before making that decision.
